Our Team

Founder & Executive Director, Tracey Thompson

Tracey Thompson, the visionary founder behind The Code for Change, emerged from a distinguished career in the technology industry, boasting a wealth of experience with industry titans like IBM. Her past experience in Technical Sales and IT Project Management unveiled a stark reality – a conspicuous lack of diversity at the decision-making tables and industry events, often leaving her as one of the few black or brown faces in the room.

Her experience managing software engineers and programmers in various projects further emphasized the urgent need for change. As the co-owner of Creative PMO, LLC, a Project Management and consulting services company, Tracey played a pivotal role in steering diverse IT projects, including large enterprise initiatives, application and web development, and infrastructure projects.

However, rather than passively observing the prevailing disparities, Tracey, driven by her commitment to change, decided to reshape the narrative. Recognizing that many young individuals discover career paths through personal connections, she pinpointed the crucial gap preventing young African Americans from tapping into the vast opportunities within the tech industry.

With a commitment to fostering change, Tracey founded The Code for Change, dedicated to introducing underrepresented youth to the vast opportunities within STEAM. Her vision is to break down barriers, inspire possibilities, and ensure that every aspiring mind, regardless of background, can envision a future thriving in the dynamic world of technology.
