We often talk about the “future of work,” but at The Code for Change, we believe the future is already here—it just isn’t accessible to everyone yet.
On March 6, 2026, we took a massive step toward changing that. We are thrilled to announce the official grand opening of our brand-new community computer lab! It isn’t just a room filled with high-speed hardware and monitors; it is a dedicated space for innovation, Digital and AI literacy, and workforce development designed specifically for our community.
A Room Full of Visionaries
We were honored to be joined by a diverse group of community leaders, local organizers, and advocates who all share a singular vision: digital equity for all.
We were particularly thankful to welcome representatives from the Maryland Office of Statewide Broadband, who thanks to their generous grant funded this computer lab. Their presence underscored the critical importance of the work we are doing here in Maryland. As the Office of Statewide Broadband continues its mission to ensure every Marylander has access to high-speed internet, our lab will serve as a vital “on-ramp”—providing not just the connection, but the devices and the skills training necessary to navigate the modern digital economy.
More Than Just Megabits
During the ceremony, our Executive Director, Tracey Thompson highlighted why this lab is a cornerstone for The Code for Change’s mission, “The Code for Change understands the lack of access is a real problem in Prince George’s county and wanted a space that was accessible to the community. That is why this computer lab will serve as a “Tech Hub” and is located inside Trinidad Baptist Church”.
- Digital & AI Literacy: Hosting workshops on everything from basic computer skills to AI workflows, helping students and professionals alike stay ahead of the curve.
